Your tour guide will pick you up at your hotel in Aswan and take you to the bank of the Nile, where your boat will be waiting for you. Get on your boat and cross the Nile to the high cliffs through Aswan, which lies north of Kitchener Island.
You can access the tombs from the platform by climbing a flight of stairs that ascend diagonally to the top of the hill. The Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms were in ancient Egypt when most nobles’ tombs were built in Aswan. The design of these tombs is very simple. There is an entrance hall, a pillared room, and a portico leading to the burial chamber. Inside the tombs, you can find essential and colorful wall paintings showing scenes from daily life and details of the lives of officials.
The tombs contain biographies written in hieroglyphs and inscriptions describing the travels of nobles across Africa. On top of the hill, just above the nobles’ tombs, is a small mausoleum or tomb of a local sheik and holy man called “Qubbet al-Hawa,” meaning “Dome of the Wind”. After the ascent, you will see great views of Aswan, the Nile River, and the rest of the region. After the event, you will be transferred to your hotel in Aswan or your Nile cruise.
